Jeff Mudgett is the author of Bloodstains, an account of his personal journey of investigation after discovering that his great-great-grandfather was Herman Webster Mudgett, better known to history by his alias, H.H. Holmes. Holmes is often regarded as America’s first serial killer.

In 2015, Jeff gave a TEDx Talk on hi fascinating theory that the infamous Jack the Ripper is the same person as H.H. Holmes! The theory became the basis for the highly popular History Channel limited series American Ripper!

A practicing attorney into his forties, Jeff received his Bachelors of Science in Nautical Industrial Technology in 1979, earning a Master in the US Merchant Marine and being honorably discharged a Commander from the United States Naval Reserve. In 1986, he earned his JD from the University of San Diego. He practiced admiralty, petroleum, and criminal law before the Ninth Circuit Federal Court of Appeals and California Supreme Court before becoming the President of Links Marine in LA and San Francisco.

Jeff is currently finishing a fiction novel and developing a new publishing venture, as well as continuing with his investigations about H.H. Holmes.
