Character Development: Using Myers Briggs to Create Believable and Multi-layered Characters Workshop Sign-Ups

About the Workshop:

Write about people who behave in ways that won’t make your readers toss the book across the room in disgust. What makes your characters tick? How do they recharge their energy levels? What kinds of information do they trust and how do they gather it? What goes into their decision making process? What’s their approach to organization, structure, and planning?

The Myers Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) will help you answer these questions and more. Mix up the traits in the wrong way, and you will send a frustrating message to your reader—you don’t know your character.

By understanding the concepts behind the MBTI, you can create believable personalities for your characters…and you might learn something about yourself in the process! Participants will take the MBTI assessment (for theirself or for their character) and participate in writing exercises focusing on MBTI traits.

This workshop provides the opportunity for participants to take the assessment ($35/person added fee for online assessment and type report).

This expanded workshop will include writing exercises, once the basics and assessment have been explored. Participants will receive a 6-page report, the MBTI Interpretive Report, based on their assessment results. Participants can choose to take the assessment using their own answer or answer the questions with a particular character in mind. This report will include an overview of type preferences.

In addition, it will provide the following based on assessment results: a description of the identified type, developmental patterns, and preferences unique to that type. This detailed description includes characteristics, typical strengths, and areas of weakness for potential growth.
