Barry is the co-founder of TGBeyond, a company focused on creating media content to help people navigate the physical, emotional and unavoidable administrative aspects of dying.

Most recently he is the co-producer of the award winning documentary, “A Butterfly Has Been Released,“ which follows beloved hospice nurse Allyson during her final 39 days with life-limiting brain cancer. With remarkable honesty, Allyson shares her final journey as she hosts her own “living funeral” and chooses a natural green burial, offering a compelling look at end-of-life decision-making, and what happens when healthcare professionals find themselves on the other side of the bedpan.

Koch is long-time volunteer, donor and board of directors member of Visiting Nurse Health System / Hospice Atlanta, the largest not-for-profit home health care provider in Georgia. Additionally, he holds a Certificate of Thanatology from the Association for Death Education and Counseling, is a member of the Green Burial Council speaker’s bureau, and a member of the Georgia Council on Aging workgroup on Medical Aid in Dying.

Prior to working in the end-of-life space, he spent 30+ years in media, the last 20 years as the General Manager of Cartoon Network in Latin America.

Finally, for some unknown reason, he is writing and performing original songs in a new one man show called “Barry’s Discount Love Song Emporium: Scratch and Dent Sale.” (Don’t ask.)
