
Alan Goldstein is a published writer with 150+ articles in a dozen and a half periodicals since before 1980. Over 50 articles have been published in “Astronomy,” the world’s largest magazine on that topic, most recently this year. Article on mining & minerals and planning festivals, won national peer awards. His first novel, a mid-grade fantasy, “The Dragon in My Back Yard” through Dingbat Publishing debuted in 2021. The first full-time interpretive naturalist at the Falls of the Ohio State Park in Clarksville, Indiana, in 1993, Alan retired in late 2025. Hundreds of thousands of visitors, including K-16 students and teachers, benefited from his programs and brochures. He developed the park’s volunteer program. He is a co-founder of the Louisville Writers’ Meetup, which meets weekly since its founding in early 2015. Alan organized author events at bookstores and libraries with published members of the critique group. He has been a panelist at the Imaginarium Convention since 2017.
Hobbies include nature photography, gardening, and collecting fossils & minerals. He develops geology-themed exhibits for libraries in Indiana and Kentucky. He discovered and co-authored nine new crinoid species from Hardin Co., Kentucky, that were published in the “Journal of Paleontology.” Alan curates his family’s history, scanning and sharing more than 7,800 images and documents since 2019 and donating family resources to the Filson Historical Society.
