About David Lyons:
David Lyons is a former homicide detective and retired police commander, living in central Kentucky. In retirement, he focuses on two passions. One, his role as a faculty member with FBI-LEEDA (the Law Enforcement Executive Development Association), the other, producing The Murder Police Podcast and The Murder Police Podcast YouTube channel. A true crime source where victim’s names are memorialized on the internet and their stories are told, through the lenses of authenticity and victim advocacy through the podcast.
David published his book, True Crime and Consequences, in 2025.
In his book, David discusses the intersection of the popular true crime genre and actual case investigations, drawing on his experience as a homicide investigator AND producer of the popular true crime podcast and YouTube channel, The Murder Police Podcast.
True Crime and Consequences is also a valuable real-life reference tool for fiction and non-fiction crime writers.
In April 2026, David successfully facilitated 3 workshops for fiction mystery and crime writers at the 2026 Pikes Peak Writer’s Conference in Colorado Springs Colorado, and was invited back in 2027 due to attendance of the workshops and value found by the attendees.
