Stoker on Stoker Multimedia Presentation: Presenter – Dacre Stoker. Dacre Stoker’s compelling and informative Keynote presentation, Stoker on Stoker, the Mysteries Behind the Research and Writing of Dracula, weaves together the details of Dracula’s history with Stoker family lore, and Bram Stoker’s life in Dublin and London, then separates fact from popular fiction, revealing the truth about all things Stoker and Dracula. Stoker on Stoker has fascinated audiences around the world, exploring the issues behind the mysteries that have baffled Dracula scholars and fans since the book’s publication in 1897. Illustrated with Dacre’s collection of never before published, and seldom-seen historic images. Including these topics: • Bram Stokers notes for the writing of Dracula • Books Bram used for his research from the London Library and Whitby Library • The Dracula Typescript, including what was edited out prior to publishing • Real locations Bram chose to include in Dracula • The location of Bram’s fictional Castle Dracula and other sites mentioned in Transylvania • Bram’s summer holiday in Whitby in 1890 how he incorporated real sites in chapters 6, 7, 8 of Dracula. • Bram in Cruden Bay Scotland, where Bram wrote parts of Dracula • Dr William Thornley Stoker functioned as Bram’s medical advisor to ensure accuracy in his writing of Dracula. Using Timelines to Tighten Plot: Presenter – Chad Elliot. Using Timelines to Tighten Plot will explore how the use of visual timelines by a writer can help to tighten the plot of a story and plan story beats. Subjects covered will include the types of story timelines, ways in which a timeline helps the writing process, styles of timelines, what should or shouldn’t be included in your timeline, and whether to share your timeline with your readers. What’s Vlad Got to do With It?: Presenter – Dacre Stoker. The Inseparable Connection between the historic Vlad Dracula III and fictional Count Dracula. Take an audio-visual tour through both medieval and modern-day Romania, investigating the facts and fiction surrounding Bram Stoker’s novel Dracula. Dacre provides personal insight from the tours he leads throughout Transylvania to places associated with both the fictional Count Dracula and the real Vlad Dracula. Appeals to history buffs and literature fans of all ages. (60 min)
