Nikki Nelson-Hicks has been described as the “Undisputed Queen of the Warped and the Weird” and the “Unholy child of H.P. Lovecraft and Flannery O’Connor”. She finds both terribly amusing.

She dips her pen in a plethora of genres from Horror to Holmesian, from Supernatural Detective Pulp to Weird Western. If asked to describe what brand of horror she writes, she prefers the term, “Quirky Spooky”.

Her love of the macabre started in early childhood and continued into adulthood. She has done her own investigating of the Weird and the Occult while searching for Djinn in the Spirit Caves of Oman, ‘collecting pre-Islamic Zar rings used in exorcism rituals, and sleeping in a haunted room in Iowa where four children were axed to death.

Her list of work includes Jake Istenhegyi: The Accidental Detective series, Sherlock Holmes and the Shrieking Pits, Rumble, The Galvanized Girl, The Perverse Muse, The Problem at Gruff Springs, Revenge of the Blood Red Maid and an anthology of horror stories, Stone Baby and Other Strange Tales.
